Follow Jhin Tally and Nyx Walker as they navigate their lives in the city of Nultock and the anomaly known as The Grinning Moon, yet another weird hotel in The Worldwalker Universe with ties to many factions and places already mentioned elsewhere!
This page will be updated pretty consistently (bi to triweekly as of 7/28/2026) with a ton of new information, characters, poll results and more! And, of course, the story itself can be read COMPLETELY for free in it's uneditted version here! Eventually a fully editted variant will be available in hard and paperback forms, but for now - please enjoy reading through everything!

Glossary
Below you can find the current characters of the Grinning Moon and some brief information about them. Also, our community poll results which have helped shape the story will be catalogued here!
Names of organizations will follow in the next section. Technically everything in this section is a "light spoiler" but if you're just looking to get caught up, you can learn about some of the characters you may have missed introduction-wise here!

Characters
Jhin Tally – Male desk worker and POV Character - 4th floor room. Introduced in Entry 1. You can use the Jhin button above to go to their character page on the characters section of the website.
Nyx Walker – Female spirit who haunts Jhin, a modern day spectral assassin - 4th floor room across from Jhin. Introduced in Entry 2. You can use the Nyx button above to go to their character page on the characters section of the website.
Mando Ligovan – Short, purple-haired extremely jaded corporate gnome who functions as Jhin’s boss.
Lulin Rayland – Aristocratic vampiress who frequents the establishment, creeps Jhin out—technically introduced in Entry 1, although her name isn't learned until far later.
Billy – The talking deer head in the lobby. Always angry about something and loves watching television. Obsessed with conspiracy theories and introduced in Entry 1. Also spends almost all his time heckling employees at the Grinning Moon since he doesn't really have much else to do. Jhin tolerates him and Mivara essentially treats him as a coconspirator.
Dolly – a living voodoo doll who sometimes works alongside Jhin. Can’t speak, so writes on sticky notes and puts them on people or places. Reliable but small, only six inches in height.
Dave – Maintenance zombie. Future character as of 8/10/2026.
Mivara – Another desk worker who has a fascination with the occult. She has gotten in trouble for reading various tomes in the lobby during the day when guests are supposed to be checking in.
Moon – The knocker/entity that controls the hotel’s security. Not much is known about him.
Cersie the Lephashipan – Comes from the “Sunken City in the West." Not much is known about her, but she seems to be some sort of sea being similar to a siren. She referred to herself as worldborne. Introduced in Entry 2.
Arnold, leader of the “Possums.”
Benzo – Owner of Zozo’s mysterious creature beyond the window. Serves food from his shadowy void at the back of Zozo’s.
Sir Theodor of Westerlot – A spirit possessing a suit of armor in the Grinning Moon. Infatuated with Cersie, who tries to drown him on their first meeting.
Perizo – The lightning mage with the talking hat, Ratbag (wants the briefcase.)
Irutok – The druidic satyr who also wants the briefcase left behind by the shade with the glasses.
Ratbag – The talking hat that travels with Perizo.

Groups of Interest
The All-Seeing Eyes – A Nultock news organization
The Sunken City – Where Cersie comes from, not much is known (yet) about it
The Society of the Open Hand - A cult that worships strange detached hands
P.O.I.S – Private Occult Investigative Society
The Rayland Corporation – a corporation specializing in jewelry, watches and talismans said to bring about good luck. Also extremely prestigious fashion statements with a sketchy reputation, at least according to Billy. Owned by the Aristocratic Rayland family.
Abyss Watchers Inc - A rum company in Nultock.
Nultock Public Security (NPS) – Nultock police force.

Places
The Witches Carnival – A day of the dead festival held outside The Grinning Moon within the forest. Hosted by dryads, wickens, witches and tree spirits.
Centrifuge Tower – Nultock’s capital building, a tower of arcane energy surrounded by multiple sigils. Governed by the Nultock City Council and protected by the NPS.
Zozo's - Benzos restaurant attached to the Grinning Moon
The Grinning Moon - A hotel which specializes in hosting the supernatural and guests of importance.
Nultock - The city the Grinning Moon takes place in, a place of mystical mystique and supernatural occurrences.

Apotheosis - A popular Nultock board game where one searches for ritual sites.
