Project Leumen

What is Project Leumen?

Project Leumen puts you in the shoes of either a RAT subject or Trophy Operative as you ascend to The Leumen's 13th floor, an anomalous space located within a prestigious hotel. Hotel functions have been temporarily suspended to allow for research of this dimensional anomaly. Your job is simple. Enter the 13th floor, search for any important samples and data and help establish a base of command for Operation White Butterfly. Be warned there are a number of hazardous materials and creatures that consider the 13th floor its home, and as such you should excersize caution.

The Lobby

Players will start within the lobby of The Leumen, a prestigious hotel which has currently been repurposed for Trophy usage. The following can be found within the lobby.

The Armory - Ran by a shai woman (see worldwalker universe info) wearing a set of glasses, this armory is used to buy weapons. Marked 1.

Trophy Tech Specialist - A massive slug which sells various technologies made by Trophy. Marked 2.

Cosmetics Shop - A well-dressed cat which sells your outfits and skins. Marked 3.

The Elevator - The entryway to The Leumen’s 13th floor. Marked 4.

Trophy Cafeteria - Where mechana serve food. Different meals will provide different temporary buffs for the upcoming level. Marked 5.

Data Center - Where players can go over what they have learned so far and get items made of anomalous materials. Marked 6.

Below is a general layout of how we're expecting the lobby to look.

Gameplay Loop

After preparations, players will make their way to the elevator to ascend to the 13th floor. This is when the game really “starts.”

Players will spend currency which they earn by playing the game and exploring The Leumen’s 13th floor at facilities down in the lobby. They may only return to the lobby once they have collected a certain amount of data which can be used for upgrades, skins and more. Some progression will be permanent but most will reset run to run.

When a player dies, they drop any data collected. Players will be required to escape with a certain amount of data to avoid reaching a fail state in which the entire run resets.

Each level of The Leumen’s 13th floor requires a certain amount of data to clear. Over time the levels grow in size and can change somewhat in terms of look. We are going for a tile-based level system that can randomly generate. The first level, however, will always be the same to allow for players to learn the game. It will also be the shortest.

Right now two “biomes” are planned.

Flesh halls

Tile rooms

Both are somewhat similar, however the tile rooms seem almost “newer” and less decayed. Both will also have unique enemies, with some enemies shared between the two. It is also worth noting secret passageways and other oddities can be found via exploration.

Enemies

There are a multitude of life forms within The Leumen's 13th floor, ranging from fleshy monstrosities to strange mixtures of technology and biomass. Likewise, the environment is full of dangers. Hallucinogenic mushrooms, falling chandeliers, secret paintings and much more.

Enemies will all have different weaknesses and ways of dealing with them. Some will be nearly immune to or entirely immune to small arms fire. Others can be dispelled with energy weaponry or grenades.

Learning to deal with these threats is entirely up to the individual. But be warned - you cannot slay everything you come across here. There will also be at least one secret "boss" with unique rewards for slaying it. There may be more, however we are trying to keep the scope of this project reasonable.

Pictures to the right are Suicide Speakers, one of the many enemies you will come across.
